This week the Prime Minister, Rt Hon Rishi Sunak MP, set out his clear vision for the Country with five clear promises that will chime with the priorities of businesses, families, pensioners and workers across Lincoln, Skellingthorpe, Bracebridge Heath and Waddington East. In his speech he also set out how the Conservative Government is already taking action on tackling the problems facing the country by stabilising the economy, helping with the cost of living, increasing NHS and schools funding, and tackling illegal migration. The five promises are: • Halve inflation this year, to ease the cost of living and give people financial security • Grow the economy, creating better-paid jobs and opportunity across the country • Getting our national debt down, so that we can secure the future of public services • Cutting NHS waiting lists, so people can get the care they need more quickly • Legislating to stop the boats, making sure if you come here illegally, you are detained and swiftly removed Those five promises are not the limit of the Conservative Government’s ambitions. As the Prime Minister set out, there is a need to change the way the country works, raise its aspirations, and build that better future. This will be through: : • A more innovative economy • Stronger communities • World class education • Healthcare built around patients • Family at the heart of social life Karl, who always Puts Lincoln First, said: “These five Conservative promises chime with the views of families, pensioners, workers and businesses across Lincoln about what they, the City and Country need in 2023. I fully support them. Ensuring we keep the economy growing, getting to grips with the cost of living and improving health are clear priorities that benefit everybody. “Dealing with illegal immigration including those coming here across the Channel are a particular issue that everybody is annoyed about – with the increased costs for the taxpayer and increased pressure on public services. I am particularly pleased with the Government’s plans on this. “As seen this week by the Labour leader, who was a vocal supporter of Jeremy Corbyn at the last election, he has no realistic plans to support families, pensioners, workers and businesses. On immigration, he is as weak as all Labour politicians have been as shown by the fact that he has voted against all attempts to strengthen the rules. Labour has never stood up against increased illegal immigration in the past and it is clear that it won’t do so in the future either.” - ENDS -
